The Turn of the Screw at Wolterton Hall…
A very special immersive performance
8th July 2026 | 9th July 2026 | 10th July 2026 | 11th July 2026
Step into the haunting world of Henry James’s The Turn of the Screw in a spine-tingling, immersive performance set within the grand yet shadowed rooms of Wolterton. As dusk falls, the audience will journey through the Hall and its mist-shrouded grounds, following a young governess who arrives to care for two orphaned children—only to confront chilling apparitions which she believes are corrupting the children. Are the ghosts real, or are they born of a fevered imagination? In this atmospheric retelling of the classic Gothic tale, every flicker of candlelight and distant whisper draws you deeper into the mystery. Blending live performance, haunting soundscapes, and the eerie beauty of Wolterton Hall itself, this is theatre that surrounds you—an unforgettable evening where nothing is quite as it seems.
Wolterton, with its lake, tower, and expansive grounds, is the ideal setting for this immersive retelling. The audience will physically follow the governess’s journey through the estate, echoing the novella’s intimate first-person perspective. Please contact us if you have limited mobility before booking.
Tickets are limited to 60 per performance so ensure you book early to avoid missing out on this unique experience.
On Friday 10th July, for one night only we will be providing a dinner and show experience. Why not enjoy a very special night and enjoy a delicious meal before the play prepared by outstanding local chef Alex Clare from Norfolk’s Edge.
